Further guidelines

Below are guidelines of best practices for the patient and care provider to follow on a regular basis prior to and following surgery. Remember only one care provider per patient is allowed.

Wash your hands often Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after sneezing, coughing, or blowing your nose. Children will need reminders and support to accomplish this. If soap is not readily available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Make sure all surfaces of your hands are covered and rub together until dry.

Avoid close contact with others

Keep a distance of at least 6 feet from others even in your own home. Even people exhibiting no symptoms can spread the virus. No gathering in groups. Avoid all nonessential trips outside of your home.

Wear a face covering

The patient and everyone that the patient is exposed to should wear a cloth face covering, with the exception of children under 2, anyone with a condition that makes it difficult to breathe or anyone that cannot remove the mask themselves. This is not a substitute for avoiding close contact. Please wear your face covering on the day of surgery as well.

Clean and disinfect frequently

All frequently touched surfaces, such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks, should be cleaned regularly and repeatedly. Make sure any soiled areas are cleaned with soap and water followed by disinfecting the surface with a disinfectant spray or wipe and allow the surface to dry.
