This month marks a major milestone for Willamette ENT as we say goodbye—and offer our deepest thanks—to Dr. Thompson and Dr. Johnson, who are both retiring after many years of dedicated service to our clinic and the Salem community.

Decades of Compassionate Care
Dr. Thompson joined Willamette ENT in 1987, followed by Dr. Johnson in 1991. Both began their careers with us at our original Oak Street location, long before the space could accommodate the growing needs of our patients and providers. Their leadership and vision played an essential role in the planning and development of our current clinic on River Road, which opened in the summer of 2000. Earlier this year, we celebrated 25 years in this building, an achievement made possible in part because of their commitment to building a strong, sustainable practice.
An Impact Beyond Words
While much can be said about these two remarkable physicians, no words can fully capture what they have meant to our staff, our patients and the Salem community. Their compassion, expertise and genuine care for every individual who walked through our doors shaped the culture of Willamette ENT for over three decades, and we will deeply miss their presence, mentorship and leadership at our clinic.
Looking Ahead to New Adventures
While it is difficult to see them go, we share in their excitement for the next chapter:
- Dr. Thompson looks forward to spending more time with his family and grandchildren—something he has always treasured.
- Dr. Johnson is eager to continue exploring the world and embracing new adventures in his retirement.
With Gratitude
To Dr. Thompson and Dr. Johnson: thank you for your years of service and your unwavering dedication to patient care, as well as for the countless ways you have strengthened this clinic and community. You leave behind a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire us for years to come.
We wish you both a joyful, fulfilling retirement—you have truly earned it.
“I have been going to Willamette ENT on and off for most of my life. The staff is always so friendly, and the doctors and nurses show a lot of care and compassion!”
