SkinPen Microneedling® is a minimally invasive treatment that reduces potential issues like scars, lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It uses the only FDA-approved microneedling device and is also known as collagen induction therapy.
If you’ve undergone thyroid removal and are self-conscious about scarring, SkinPen Microneedling can help. There’s no downtime required, and you can get back to your regular routine the same day.
SkinPen Microneedling can help treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, sun damage and age spots. It can even help uneven skin tones, improve skin texture and treat the loss of skin elasticity.
How Does SkinPen Microneedling Work?
The procedure leads to the creation of additional elastin and collagen by penetrating just below the skin’s surface with a series of small sterile needles. This creates micro-channels in the epidermis and dermis, which tells the body to produce collagen and elastin.
Depending on your specific needs, treatments take about 30 minutes and are typically part of a three-part series and are spaced about a month apart from one another.
Microneedling is a natural procedure that uses the body’s own mediators to repair and heal the skin versus using a medication, surgery, or other types of chemicals.
Where Is Collagen Induction Therapy Completed?
The procedure is typically performed on the face or neck and can even be completed on the chest or hands.
Are There Any Side Effects?
You may experience some irritation, redness and dry skin, but these symptoms typically resolve a few days after the procedure is completed.
When Will I See Results?
Most patients see significant improvements around 6-8 weeks after undergoing the initial treatment. Results will become increasingly visible as the body continues to produce new elastin and collagen.
Effects from the procedure usually last between 3-5 months, and optimal results are maintained by receiving treatment several times per year.
Want to Enhance Your Results?
You can boost your Mircroneedling results by using PRP, protein-rich plasma. By drawing your own blood, it is placed in a centrifuge to separate the protein-rich plasma. The plasma makes a serum, which is applied to your skin prior to the utilization of the SkinPen. Using your own plasma, followed by the Mircroneedling treatment, it creates tiny channels in the skin to help enhance the procedure as a whole.
