Welcome to our physician owned and operated surgical facility. We would like to inform you that your surgeon may have partial ownership of this surgical facility and you have the right to have surgery at any other facility where your surgeon has privileges. Our goal is to make this experience as comfortable and easy for you and your guests as possible.
Enclosed in your informational packet are general surgery instructions. It is your responsibility to read them carefully. We also have information available to you on our website that you may find helpful. Click on Surgery in the top tool bar for more information about:
- What to expect
- Financial Policies
- Post-operative care instructions
- Anesthesia information
- Patient Rights and Responsibilities
- Advance Directive Forms
There is a copy of your Rights and Responsibilities in this packet. If you have other unanswered questions or would like to have your Patient Rights and Responsibilities reviewed with you verbally please call (503) 361-3094.
Please bring a copy of any Advance Directive, Living Will or Durable Power of Attorney for medical care with you to your surgical visit. If you would like a copy of our advance directive form mailed to you, please do not hesitate to call our surgery schedulers at (503) 316-1370. Please be advised that we do not anticipate life threatening events as a result of the outpatient procedures we perform. If there is a life-threatening event at our facility, we will take all measures to resuscitate patients and transfer them to Salem Hospital for advanced care. Any Advance Directive information provided would accompany the patient to the hospital.
Your Anesthesiologist may choose to contact you ahead of time to discuss your anesthesia care. PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR ANESTHESIOLOGIST’S INSTRUCTIONS. EVEN IF THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM THOSE YOU RECEIVED FROM YOUR NURSE. If you don’t receive a call from an anesthesiologist, do not be concerned. You will meet your anesthesiologist and review the anesthesia plan prior to surgery. At that time, they will answer all your questions.
We have designated parking for our surgical patients to make transport to their vehicles as easy as possible following their surgery. The designated parking is on the northeast portion of the lot, across from the circle drive.
Please limit the number of people who accompany you to the center. As a rule, one responsible adult who will drive you home is adequate. Do not bring more than 2 visitors with you to surgery. As space is limited additional visitors may be asked to leave. In the case of minor patients, both parents can accompany the child. It is always required that one parent or legal guardian remain on the premises! Siblings and otherChildren not having surgery should not be brought to the surgical center, as the parents need to focus their full attention on the patient. Young patients are encouraged to bring a favorite toy and/or blanket with them to surgery.
For the comfort of others, we ask that you not play loud music or movies in the waiting area. Please bring headphones for listening to devices you bring from home. There is a TV in our waiting room that plays a recorded program with closed captioning so as not to disturb those who choose to read. We also have WIFI available for visitors.
Perfumes and scented lotions are prohibited for patients and their guests. Many of our patients have allergies or have undergone surgery and these scents can cause irritation and nausea.
Beverages are allowed in our waiting area and there is complimentary tea and coffee available. Please notify us of any spills or accidents. We do not have food available on the premises. If you anticipate being here during mealtimes, please plan accordingly. We do have some delivery menus available at the desk for your convenience. Please be discrete with food when arriving patients enter the waiting room.
We strive to provide you with a safe clean environment. Please advise us immediately if we fail to notice wet spots on the floor or other potential hazards. For your safety we ask that no running take place on the premises and no toys be left in walkways. Please also note that this is a non-smoking campus. This includes electronic cigarettes and vaporizers. If you are accompanying a child, you cannot leave the premises and you are not allowed to smoke on the premises. Please plan accordingly.
If you have insurance, we will bill it for you. If you are having a cosmetic procedure, all fees are due in full on the day of surgery unless alternative arrangements have been made. In compliance with the No Surprises Act of 2022, a good faith financial estimate for the surgeon and River Road Surgery Center are provided to all patients. If your insurance is out of network, you are uninsured or are having self-pay service and would like a more detailed, line-item estimate, please contact our office and one will be provided to you. Please take time to review both forms carefully and contact our Financial Counselor at (503) 566-4901 if you have any questions. If you would like more information on our No Surprises Act of 2022 policy, follow this link.
Give all OFLA/FMLA, disability, or any other type of work release forms that need to be completed to the reception staff at your surgeon’s office. You will need to sign a records release authorization for the surgeon’s office to complete these forms. DO NOT give these forms to the surgery center staff or your surgeon. This will delay the processing of your paperwork. Please allow at least 5 business days for completion of these forms.
We are proud to notify you that River Road Surgery Center is a Joint Commission Accredited Facility. Any safety concerns during your stay can be reported directly or to the Joint Commission. Their Web Site is http://www.jointcommission.org/report_a_complaint.aspx
